A true-life story from Harlan County’s heyday
I have just managed to clean a new audio snippet from my recordings with Dad. This is a story from his childhood about getting in hot water with his dad when his desire to play baseball with his friends overruled (at least temporarily) his choice to heed his dad’s words.
I apologize for the quality of the recording. This material comes from mono analog tape that is 30 years old.
Click the play button below to hear an interview with the miner himself, Carl Ruth, as he tells this story from childhood (pages 30-32 in the book).
